The late Benter Aoko Odhiambo – Director
Mama Benter was the Founder and Executive Director of the Kanyala Little Stars Organization. Mama Benter was born in 1950s and contributed her wealth of experience in community development and education which she attained over her 40 year teaching career in both private and public Kenyan schools. She dedicated much of her life to fighting for children and women’s rights, especially the orphans and vulnerable children and people living with HIV/AIDS. Through her great love for women and children, Mama Benter was driven to start a group to empower themselves economically, socially, and spiritually.
Esther Opuch – Co-Founder
Esther is the co-founder of the organization. Esther has also dedicated herself to the success of the organization. She previously served as the organizations treasurer and is currently the spiritual leader.
Samwel Asingo Odhiambo – Associate Director
Born in 1981, Samwel holds B.Ed. in Early Childhood Development and Primary Education. He has a great passion for children’s welfare, especially in education. He has worked hard to ensure that children are developed holistically, that is, not only academically but also with co-curricular activities and life skills. He is the Assistant Director and in charge of the education of the children.
Penina Auma – Operations Officer
Peninah provides logistical support to the organization, and also takes responsibility for documenting and disseminating the work the organization is doing. She also oversees the secondary school scholarship program for Little Stars Academy graduates.
Fostine Odhiambo – Human Resources Manager
Our organization has grown from 3 founding members to 23 current members. Kanyala Little Stars Orgnaization has 5 executive staff members, 12 teaching staff, 2 farm attendants, 2 bakery attendants and 2 security staff.
